holiday stuff @ 09:36 am

Current Mood: chipper chipper

Bought a set of Christmas* earrings at Wally World last night, to replace the ones I've lost this year. Theyr'e all little, which is good with a short haircut. Rhinestone studs for the top pair of holes, trees and dangly wreaths to swap out in the bottom ones. I wanted a Christmas* bandana to tie to my backpack instead of the Halloween one I've been using, but no luck there. The closest I found was green with roses, didn't care for it - very retro-ish.

Also got a couple boxes of cards for Gazer's work, to send out to lifetime members and maybe trade addresses. The Quarterlies get sent bulk so we don't know if they arrive or not. The cards, on the other hand, will bounce back if the address is dead - so we can take them off the mailing list. Sneaky, perhaps, but it should work. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be to find nice-looking non-"Christmas" Christmas* cards but I did it. (Besides, digging through piles of boxed cards gave me a little Work Avoidance Theater.)

*Note: I grew up calling the holiday on December 25th "Christmas", though I only went to church (Disciples of Christ) when I stayed over at my grandparents' house on a weekend. Yes, I still think of it as Christmas, just without the religious feeling behind it. I still love Christmas carols too.

They (TV & radio) keep saying we're getting a bunch of snow tonight, so the groceries have been hid hard. Of course, we need groceries today, and probably won't be able to find them - at least not without fighting a crowd. Kroger advertises a lot on channel 18's newscasts, I wonder if they bribed them to start a "must hoard food for the end of the world!" local panic. Wouldn't put it past 'em.

What I celebrate is Christmas to me, too.

Of course there will be a big run on milk, eggs and bread today. After all, when it snows, french toast is the order of the day. :-)
