4 pairs of socks for CIC drive Jan 2006

Thanks to some kind yarn donations from a couple of CIC Knit list members, eight little feet in a Russian orphanage will soon be toastier in these. The left two are unknown 2-ply bulky wools, the right two are light worsted weight, maybe a DK. The bottom right came from Marguerite's mini-basketweave pattern, the other three were improvised. The striped pair started as a second plain basketweave pair. I'd completed one sock and was almost to the heel of the second when I realized I wouldn't have enough of the olive green left to finish it, so I frogged them both and started over toe-up. The greenish bulky pair was also toe-up, did both feet to the ankles first then split the remaining yarn in half to make the cuffs as long as possible. These will be mailed to the CIC donation center tomorrow, I just wanted to make sure I had a good pic first. (Thanks again, Dad, for the money to get a good digital camera for Christmas.)

Love those socks

You did a very nice, artistic job of combining and using up the various colors. They're a pleasure to look at and to think of them warming those eight cold feet.

Good job!

Nice socks; I especially like the pink striped pair. Three cheers for more warm kiddos!
