Stormy socks done @ 11:46 pm

Current Mood: accomplished accomplished

I've got plenty of room for photos with LJ Scrapbook, so let's see if I can figure out how to post these. They should be thumbnail links to bigger pics for details.

These are Denise Powell's toe-up sock pattern from SocknittersSAM knitalong, using the square toe and round heel options with a twisted rib that's surprisingly stretchy.
See? They look too skinny, but yes they do fit! The yarn is Knitpicks' Simple Stripes in "Storm". I added extra backwards loops between the ribs on the last round, then bound off with Elizabeth Zimmerman's backstitch style.
I usually increase a few times in the cuff to fit my thicker legs, but on these I just went up a needle size about halfway up (from US #1 to #2 dpns).

Now I've got a day and a half left to warm up for the Knitting Olympics. I've balled up one skein of Knitpicks Essential "Dusk", a slightly tweedy medium-dark blue. I want to try a couple of bead swatches, maybe a repeat of the beaded lace to make sure I know what I'm doing before Friday afternoon.
