new shoes @ 09:17 am

Current Mood: bouncy bouncy

I still can't believe I did that. *headshake*

Yesterday afternoon I noticed my Wally World shoes were coming apart and the heels were wearing through. What's the point of bargain shoes if you have to replace them every couple of months? So I started thinking, and window shopping online, and after work went to the New Balance shop in Woodhill. I needed something comfy I could still wear to work, and since I'm walking back & forth to the bus every day I went in looking for all-black athletic/walking shoes. Alas, the 9 1/2 wide was too tight and the 10 1/2 was too long, so I ended up with these all-white shoes instead. They're gonna take a little getting used to, but the stabilizers & extra support help straighten out my natural tendencies so I walk straighter and more comfortably. I felt bouncier, and there's less strain on my back and ankles.

The part I have trouble wrapping my head around is the price - just over $90 with sales tax. I don't think I've ever spent that much on something to wear besides glasses, and those are always good for at least a few years. I just hope these shoes hold up that long!

New Balance are comfy and will last a long time. Plus, when they start to wear you can replace the insole and get even more wear out of them.

I really need to start geting better shoes too. My feets are less than thrilled with me.

I think that is the point of bargain shoes... to fall apart quickly. :D New Balance shoes seem to hold up very well, as both Paul and I can say with experience. :)

Heh. Critter figured that out about Wal-Mart ages ago, but he's willing to settle for Carnival shoes, and they seem to hold up. What was really a shock was switching from child prices to adult prices.
