Current Mood: hungry hungry

Happiness is my mom's Sour Potatoes.

Someone asked for a recipe, I replied:

Wish I knew, I never learned the recipe. It's potatoes & cocktail weenies (or cut up hot dogs) boiled in some kind of vinegar & sugar sauce, kind of a sweet & sour base. There might have been onions in it too, but not much.

Sounds Prussian. I think I've had something like that. You're right; it's good. ^_^

My great-grandparents both emigrated to the US as small children in the late 1890s so they probably grew up in a regional neighborhood of some sort, it was passed down through the family from there. I thought it was German but I don't know for sure.

All the meat means - relatively speaking - lots of money. (This is a very relative term.) So likely Prussian. More onions and/or potatoes would probably mean, I dunno, Schweabian or something. But as a rule of thumb, most of the Germanic foods people actually want to eat ^_^ come out of Prussia.
