I'm sure this was cut to just show the stupid people. I hope.

Yeah. This was foreign newscasters trying to make US citizens look bad.

Okay, that was weird. I logged in, LJ _told me_ I was logged in, but when I tried to comment before I wasn't logged in and had to do it again. I even back-buttoned to the page where LJ had told me I was logged in, and, yeah, I was logged in. Until I went to my Friends Page again.

Anyway, my comment was that this appears to be an effort by non-US folks to make US folks look stupid.

There are a lot of average north americans who know the answers to those questions, it's the ignorant people who make the rest of us look bad. Good thing that was a video edit or the world would be in trouble!

"I have no intelligent guess."
"How about a stupid guess?"

That made me laugh. It does make me sad that it's so easy to find that many people who are that clueless. I didn't know the answers to all his questions, but I could answer a significant number.

Somebody labeled Australia as Iran and N. Korea; the people looking at his world map didn't pick that up. WTF?

Oi.. Thank goodness the average American actually isn't THAT stupid. It's obvious to me that only the stupidest and least educated (read as definitely allegedly educated in government schools) ones and let their answers represent the whole of America.

In defense of the "Name a country that starts with U" well... there were a lot of stupid answers, but the fact is most Americans do not call their country 'The United States'. We refer to our country as "America" which obviously starts with an A... and we don't care whether other countries on the 'American' continents like it or not. WE are Americans, not 'United Statesians'. I guess we do refer to ourselves as The U. S. A. but that starts with a T too. hahahaha. The point is most people don't think of their OWN place... if people asked me to name a state starting with an O I'd think of Oregon and Oklahoma before I thought of Ohio... something in my brain thinks 'name another state..."

In my defense, I did see what they were aiming at even though "The United States" clearly begins with a "T". ('the' doesn't count for lists though! Hahaha..) My first thoughts were actually Uganda, then Ukraine. THEN I thought of United States, and then after that I thought of United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and uh... come on there is one more... Uruguay!

Though United Kingdom is obviously correct, a lot of Americans predate being taught about the UK as a whole nation, and are used to thinking of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales as separate nations.

But no we are NOT as stupid at large as portrayed.
