That was interesting @ 03:16 pm

First time for everything. Over fourteen years here, first time I've run into an evacuation drill. (Employees only, though a few of the guests joined in to be on the safe side.) In my office I could barely hear the siren go off, and that was with the door open. I heard a periodic voice recording but couldn't make out what it said.

Apparently, my job is to make sure the safe is closed & locked before heading to the meeting point at the top of the loading ramp. If I'm in the middle of a deposit, throw it all in the safe first, sort it out after they let us back in.

On the up side, HR was waiting outside with popsicles for everybody.

That sounds like the situation in the annex building where I worked before moving to the new Transportation Cabinet building. I told them repeatedly I could hear neither the alarm nor the synthesized voice. And I was one of the door monitors!

Maybe they had the popsicles and wanted a fast way to get everyone there? Maybe that's why it was the first one you'd experienced in 14 years, they had 5 dollars to spend on employee appreciation :P hmmm LOL

I also transferred to day shift a year ago last May, which probably upped the odds. Third shift didn't get treats, we were the shoemaker elves that came in while the world was asleep and magically left big piles of pretty paperwork on their desks in the morning.
