warm hands @ 07:14 am

I've finished eight pair of mittens (excuse me, "mittnz") for Native American Support's Mittn Blitz. These will be heading to the Cheyenne River reservation this weekend in honor of my Cherokee and Inuit ancestors.

The two smaller pairs to the lower right were knit sideways and seamed, the rest were knit on dpns similar to socks. They're all stashed bits of worsted acrylic, the light pink with the darker cuff is a boucle type bumpy yarn I got with a lot of rainbow yarn from eBay awhile back.

Way to use up leftover stash! Is the pattern for the vertically-knit ones online?

Long time no type! I've been "off" LiveJournal for 110 weeks, according to their software.

Anyway, just wanted to say that since we've talked, I've become a knitter too. I'm still very much a beginner--haven't done anything fitted yet, but I love knitting!

And I love your mittens. Thanks for sharing!

Acrylic? Why??? It doesn't hold heat! At all!

It's what I had on hand, and the group accepts any materials, preferably machine washable. Until just a couple of years ago the only available source for yarn where I live was WalMart, so I have a lot of acrylic yarns left in my stash.
