I managed to finish my "I Love Gansey" socks, barely by month-end, to squeeze in under the wire for two different contests. The Six Sox Knitalong (where the pattern came from) always runs a contest with each pattern, you have to post in-progress and complete pics before the new pattern comes out - and we've got a new one due October 1st. I've also entered these in The Loopy Ewe's Q3 challenge, which was to tackle a sock or lace pattern more complicated than you're used to. It gave me headaches (and hand aches), I wanted to give up a few times, but an all-day knitathon got them finished at last.
I used Brown Sheep's Wildfoote sock yarn, in Temple Turquoise, on US #1 & #0 needles. The hearts and cables all had different charts, with different numbers of rounds. The braided cables in particular were hard to keep track of.
I'm glad I didn't give up, but I'm also relieved I'm finally finished and can go on to something else. Nice simple ribbing sounds pretty good about now.
