Been reading Meditation for Dummies by Stephan Bodian, a little at a time. Today's chapter (before I sat down) was on roadblocks, including my lifelong biggie, procrastination.
"Like doubt, procrastination can bring your mediation to a screeching halt. After all, if you keep putting it off, you won't be able to reap the benefits."
"... you may be too restless and distracted to find the time for the very activity that could help you deal with your restlessness and distractibility."
Bingo. I get distracted way too easily, always too many things to do and not enough time to squeeze them all in. I plan on doing one thing (bank deposit at work, for instance) and before I know it I'm off on a tangent (reading email, collecting Zune wallpapers, or whatever). I have trouble staying focused, which is exactly why I turned to meditation, yet that's what keeps me from doing it every day.
Maybe I should meditate on that.
