not all here

It seems I've only got three functioning brain cells this morning, and one of them isn't speaking to the others. I've got a lot of stuff that needs to be done today, all of which requires a good bit of mental focus, and not enough time to focus on them all. I should probably put together a to-do list and prioritize things, but that would take too much time and effort.

I thought my skull jack-o-lantern didn't win at yesterday's Halloween party, but apparently there's still hope. They're doing the annual employee surveys for the next few days, and the last item in the instructional flip charts is an optional one to vote by number for your favorite pumpkin.

Okay, I won't bother prioritizing, but here's my task list:

  • finish deposit

  • put away change order & retired cashier bank

  • look up available vacation/sick hours for requests

  • enter requests for time off last week

  • make sure new hires & rate changes are in system

  • enter hours for new hires

  • verify credit card refunds against original charges

  • check & respond to phone messages

  • prep time sheet checklist for tomorrow

  • take trash w/pumpkin guts to dumpster

  • audit last bank for month & do summary report

  • fill out employee survey

  • find out who won monthly employee awards & enter incentives

  • set up master cash over/short file for November

Like I said: a lot of stuff, not much time, and even less brain power. On the up side, I realized the old computer speakers on the back of my desk weren't used any more, and since they use an earphone jack I can plug them in to my Zune. Have to turn the volume way up to hear them against the constant drone of the ceiling vent, but still, cool! Just have to remember to turn it back down before going back to headphones.
