Holiday Blues

Nearly 2:30am Christmas morning and I'm still awake, sitting here by myself while everyone's asleep. I should be in bed, 'cause goodness knows the kids will be up early, but I really don't feel like sleeping. Don't feel like doing much of anything, for that matter, except trying not to cry for no damned reason. We got everything wrapped and set up a couple of hours ago, Gazer headed to bed awhile back, and I have no idea why I didn't just follow him on upstairs.

It's been a couple of years now since I've really enjoyed Christmas. Now it's just another stupid day, just like all the rest. Blah.

Ave Maria

You'd think a supposed Broadway star (didn't hear her name so I have no
clue who she is, other than a fairly young African-American woman) could
sing "Ave Maria" decently. I'm sorry, but that song really does not need
that struggling-around-the-note jazzy thing she added near the end - and
that she got a standing ovation for. Even if I had thought that was cool -
which I didn't - it did not make up for her breaking up words by obviously
inhaling in the middle of them. When singing solo you breathe *between*
the words, for Pete's sake!
