WIP: Socky Scrapghan @ 01:46 pm

Current Mood: accomplished accomplished

I've been working on an afghan entirely from sock yarn. Over the weekend I took a pic of what I've finished so far:

I've attached 293 squares so far out of roughly 700 total, so it's about 40% finished. I haven't gotten much else done since I started working on this last Halloween, but the frequent color and texture changes are keeping me from getting bored. I've been knitting each square separately to keep it all portable, then crocheting them together a row or two at a time.

These aren't all my own leftovers, some were purchased and the majority were donated. I'm using fingering weight yarns on US 2 needles with a size D crochet hook for seaming.

Wow! I'm impressed! Is this all scraps from socks or from full skeins of sock yarn?

It's been mostly scraps, though one or two of the purchased ones were full 50g balls or very close to it. It's mostly superwash, some merino wool, a couple of cotton & soy blends in there somewhere. My Ravelry page has a list for all the brands I know of, some weren't labelled when I got them.

It's beautiful!

Reminds me of the old-fashioned quilts my grandmother made from fabric scraps. :-)
