predictions from "I Am Legend"? @ 02:09 pm

Current Mood: amused amused

Watched "I Am Legend" on DVD last night - wow! Emotional, but very well done. To de-stress today I stopped by YouTube looking for fanvids & extras from the high-def DVDs and found this:

"I Am Legend" - gas sign in trailer

The movie came out last December, anticipating Katrina-like price gouging in the early stages of this plague when everybody would try to flee Manhattan. Just a few months later and we're already halfway there without the plague panic.

According to IMDB, all the vehicles being driven in the film are Fords - including the last one, a Ford Escape, which is appropriately named for the scene.

Please, please watch the version with the alternate ending. It transforms the movie from a run of the mill film to a really really good one, possibly one of the best movies of the year. First link I found: http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/03/05/must-watch-i-am-legends-original-ending-this-is-amazing/

Our DVD doesn't have the extras, but I caught the alternate version on YouTube and yes, I liked it a lot better than the theatrical version too.

My two cents

This movie was well done, the idea is good, but they should have named it something else. Have you read the book? The only thing that is the same is The main character is named Robert Neville and the vampires are vampires from disease.
Robert Neville was not a doctor, but a factory worker. He learns through the book she finds at the library.
Part way through th book a dog comes along and he becomes friends with the dog over a period of time. When he finally gets the dog into the house after a couple of days he dies.
Next comes "ruth" who is basically a spy for the vampires. She can come out in daylight because the VAMPIRES have created or discovered medication that lessens the effects of daylight. (This is - in my ppinion- the reason the dog does nto last long after he stops returning home)
I suggest reading the original work. It's not a long read, it's in a collection of short stories actually.
