work avoidance theater

I'm still recovering from last night's knitting marathon. I finished my Ravelympics WIP project Monday before work so I was desparate to knit *anything* else! With the deadline for the 2010 pattern-a-day calendar submissions coming up in a few weeks I decided to work on a new dress for my beloved old A.G. Bear. (She was my first Christmas gift from gazerwolf back in 1985.) Thought about it all day at work, once I got home around 7:30pm I started taking measurements and swatching.

Knitting the bodice sideways in garter stitch, leaving openings for the sleeves. Hubby went to bed around 10pm, I switched over to Olympics for background noise. Picked up along the top for a neckline & a bow closure at the center back, picking up along the bottom for a feather & fan skirt in the round. Some trial & error later - okay, a lot - I finished the bodice and finally got the right stitch multiple for the skirt. Glanced down at my watch and realized it was 3:30am! Seemed like it took forever to get to sleep and I had to be up at 7 this morning for work, so I've had maybe three hours' sleep. I'm running on Vivarin & Aleve, when I woke up my shoulder blades and hands were aching - first time in ages I've overdone the knitting enough to hurt the next day.

I'm hoping lunch and some hot tea will wake me up enough to get through the rest of work.
