To get rid of it:
1. Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and install all available security updates, especially critical ones.
2. On the main Microsoft.com website, near the upper right corner, is a link with info about the Sasso worm. Go to that page, about halfway down is a "check my PC" button which intalls a program to detect sasso.A and sasso.B and clean it out.
We didn't lose any data as far as I can tell, just cost an hour or so's aggravation to take care of it.
Apparently most of the XP machines here were infected yesterday, but they forgot/didn't bother leaving me a note about it. When I mentioned it to my boss this morning, he admitted he'd forgotten we had an XP machine. (Most everyone else with XP's are in management.)
Anyway, finally time to head home. The fountain in the park was steaming last night because the water was so much warmer than the air.
Bleh. I want spring to come back & stay this time...
