Sockies! @ 11:18 pm

Current Mood: accomplished accomplished

I've just finished my first pair of knitted socks, made toes-up from Red Heart Baby Soft yarn.

I took these photos with hubby's new PDA, colors are a little off.

Since the colors were off, I took one off and stuck it in the scanner.

I'm not fond of pastels, but the only sport-weight yarn Walmart had was baby stuff so this was the best of the lot.

They're a little wonky in the heels, but not a bad first try. Next time I'll probably make the heel flaps a little shorter, maybe start the side gussets sooner and make the top part a little bigger around.

Fun! Those look really soft and comfy.

I have but one knitted sock.... and a ball of yarn with a lot of needles sticking out of it. My dedication waned.....

I used the toe-up pattern on the Socknitters website, modified for bigger feet & ankles. (I wear US 9 wide shoes.) I made that first heel too narrow though, I did that part straight from the pattern & forgot to adjust for size. But it's really stretchy, so it worked out okay.

A lot of folks on that list say not to use acrylic for socks, but at least it goes through the washer & dryer easy. They came out softer than they went in. :) A lot of sock yarns have to be hand-washed, bleh.
